Updating your Android version to the latest version has never been a strength of Android smartphones. Budget models and smartphones of the middle price segment, as a rule, remain on the preinstalled version of the operating system. With flagships, the situation is much better. But which smartphones will get fresh Android 10?
Most manufacturers are reluctant to talk about the release dates for the “10” for their devices and which models will receive it. Nevertheless, already now it is possible to say with a relatively high certainty which smartphones will be updated to the current version.
Samsung is one of the leaders in updating the operating system on smartphones from previous years. Although this applies mainly only to the flagships. So, the update should receive: Galaxy S10 / S10e / S10 + / S10 5G, Galaxy Note 9/10/10 +, Galaxy S9 / S9 +, Galaxy A90.
Despite the troubles of the company due to US sanctions, Huawei promises to update to Android 10 more than twenty of its smartphones: Huawei P30 / P30 +, the entire line of Huawei Mate 20, Huawei P20 / P20 Pro, Honor 8X, Honor 10/10 Lite, Honor View 20 and others. As you can see, the list includes not only the flagships of the brand, but also more of the budget models.
Despite the fact that Motorola has long been at the top of popularity list among buyers, the company is still trying to stay afloat and keep the track of the latest trends. Accordingly, some of the company's smartphones will also receive the update. Among them: Moto G7 / G7 Power / G7 Play / G7 Plus, Moto Z3 / Z3 Play, Moto E6, Motorola One line and others.
Initially, the company seriously planned to upgrade all its smartphones to Android 10. But in the end, it was decided to provide an update for only sixteen phones, including: Nokia 7.1, Nokia 8.1 / 8 Sirocco, Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 7 Plus and younger models.
Distinctivly is this brand has a support for their smartphones for many years in a raw. OnePlus phones often receive updates even when other manufacturers of the same price segment neglect these updates. But since the company has a relatively small assortment, Android 10 is likely to receive only six devices: OnePlus 7/7 Pro, OnePlus 6 / 6T, OnePlus 5 / 5T.
Of course, a “newborn” Android will receive new models of Xiaomi smartphones and other popular brands. Many were concerned about the issue whether all versions of Google Pixel will get the tenth Android. Unfortunately, the first generation will not receive updates, but Google Pixel 2, 2 XL, 3 and 3 XL will be updated. And the next generation Pixel 4 will be sold already with pre-installed Android 10 “on board”.
In addition to the listed devices, some smartphones of less popular brands will receive a system update. For example, BQ, Essential, HTC, LG, Realme, Sony, Vivo and others.
It should be noted that Android 10 will bring many new features, including screen recording, native 5G support, adaptive work with cutouts on screens and flexible displays, improved gesture control, chat bubbles, three-dimensional face recognition, a built-in dark theme, privacy improvements, and more.
It is planned that the mass update of smartphones will start in 2021. And some smartphones with preinstalled Android 10, which will have been released before that, will allow you to get acquainted with all the features and benefits of the OS even earlier. We also remind you that the beta version of the system can already be downloaded and installed on supported smartphones.
